The path to get to the Antonio Omio hut (2.100m) starts at the parking lot at Bagni di Masino locality (1.172m), where there is also an old spa (currently closed), located just above the village of San Martino.

Hiking time: about 2:30 hr

Distance: about 4.50 km

∆+: 950m

From the parking lot follow the path towards some houses. Carry on straight at the first signpost for the Gianetti hut. Cross the first bridge over one of the many rivers descending from the Porcellizzo valley. After 20m there is a second wooden bridge with the signpost for the Alpe Merdarola. Ignore the singpost and keep straight going through a grassy meadow, which leads into a stunning forest where the path starts going up. About halfway uphill, the Pian del Fango locality is reached from where it is possible to admire the striking Val Porcellizzo and the Gianetti hut in the distance, surrounded by the Cengalo and Badile peaks.

After about 30 minutes walk, the forest thins out. Cross a little stream and continue on through beautiful meadows and pasture areas up to the hut. Once got there the stunning view of the Val Masino with its peaks is enjoyable.

Getting here by car.  From Milan take the Stada Statale nr.36, north bound, up to Colico and then the Strada Statale nr. 38 which runs throughout  the Valtellina valley. Once passed the village of Morbegno, turn left just after the bridge crossing the river Adda. Then follow the directions to the Masino Valley, passing through the several villages along the way before getting to San Martino (Pioda, Cataeggio).

Getting here by train. From Milan take the North bound train, along the Milano-Tirano railway line, getting off at the Ardenno-Masino train station, where a bus service is available to the village of San Martino (Bus A20 – route Morbegno-Ardenno-Val Masino).
